The Soy-Free Vegan: Gluten-Free Sugar-Free Cuisine Review
I got this book because I have bought all of the author's other works and have been her client well before she began writing cookbooks.Let me say that this book really opened my eyes.
As a vegan who became allergic to wheat, I relied on soy, soy, soy- soy cheese, soy milk, soy protein powder, tofu, and many packaged goods that also had soy. My diet was in soy overload and I felt better than I did when I was eating meat, certainly better than when I was eating wheat, but overall, somewhat sluggish.
I like how the author shares her own soy issues in the intro. It has only been a week since I got my copy and let me tell you, I feel amazing already. I am sleeping better, and honestly, not a hormonal. Soy has natural hormones in it, so a little may be good but alot, not so.
I like that she compiled this book from other books written- I do not need to flip through all her other books to avoid soy. I am not totally giving up soy, but what a difference cutting back has done for me.
I highly recommend this book, and yes, there is still plenty to eat if you are gluten-free, vegan, soy-free, and watching your sugar. There are recipes for desserts, pasta, cheesy things, and she directs you to looking out for the brands that will work.
However what I love most is her own recipe for soy-free sour cream and yogurt in the introduction section. It is nearly impossible to find soy-free vegan yogurt and it was easy to make.
The Soy-Free Vegan: Gluten-Free Sugar-Free Cuisine Overview
Natural foods chef and author Dawn Grey, PhD eighth cookbook in the New Dawn Kitchen series is specifically designed for those who (wish to) incorporate a plant-based, dairy-free diet into their lives, but cannot tolerate soy. Soy, which can appear in the form of tofu, tempeh, TVP, milk substitutes, and dairy products, and in sneakier preparations such as flavorings and additives, is widely used in our food supply. For those who are or wish to be vegan or vegetarian, eliminating soy may seem impossible without resorting to a raw diet. However, this book is here to show you how its done, deliciously. This book is compiled from recipes previously published by the author, all of which are also gluten-free for those who have multiple food allergies or restrictions. The featured recipes are easy to follow, written for the beginner vegan, and are foods you are familiar with. An international menu, with Italian, Indian, Mexican, Asian, Middle Eastern and American provides breakfasts, appetizers, main courses, and desserts.Enjoy French Toast, muffins, fritters, queso dip, pizza, homemade breads, soups, stews, cupcakes, pastas, pies, and more- safely and with ingredients found at most grocers. With meals the entire family will love, there is no need to cook separately and waste time and money. For those who simply want to eat a more plant-based diet, or to avoid multiple sensitivies, the Soy-Free Vegan is what you were waiting for.Want to learn more information about The Soy-Free Vegan: Gluten-Free Sugar-Free Cuisine?
